g_frey
I spent a couple of hours making and installing a new windshield. It is .120 inch polycarbonate with Marguard coating on both sides. Simple trace old one, cut with sabre saw, and drill various mounting holes with cordless drill following by sand sand sand the edges then mount to Form bar then to BMW. This will be about number six and my best design yet. My last one finally succumbed to a large car part flying up into my face from opposing traffic. If my windshield had been acrylic things would not have turned out so well. Several small cracks in old shield and marred surface was the total damage. Total cost $90. Link to comment
PassinHarleys
Are you also bending it or are you running it flat? Link to comment
g_frey
I use a 1/4" x 1/2" x 16" pre curved aluminum bar to form the curve when the 3 5mm machine screws are put through the new flat windshield plastic to the pre-threaded curved bar. That way I do not need a heat bender. The bar is on the front of the windshield which does collect a lot of bugs. send me an email and I will send you a picture. garytrishfrey@gmail.com Link to comment
