94aero
Has anyone jumpered out the load shed relay so the hid ballast doesn't lock out? Mine locked out on voltage drop after restarting the bike. It is a retro-solutions hid kit on a 97 r1100rt. Link to comment
Ken H.
I don't think there would be anything wrong with jumping the load shead relay as long as you battery is up to the task of cranking the bike. Link to comment
dirtrider
Afternoon 94aero If you look at how the load relief relay operates it would be difficult to jump it to stay closed all the time as that would allow the lights & some accessories to stay on even with the key turned off. Keep in mind the load relief relay not only operates as a load dropping relay but also functions as a power relay. However you could wire the load relief relay's starter side of the pull-in coil to go directly to ground rather than the stock attachment to the starter's solenoid pull in circuit (difficult to access that circuit though). That would allow proper load relief relay operation as a power relay with the key turned on & off but prevent the relay from turning off during engine cranking. Or maybe easier yet to just wire your HID's to battery direct using a fuse & a additional little Bosch type relay. Link to comment
