Sam Taylor
Any wisdom on when it is most effective to send the Wilbers (in this case, on a R1150RT) in for a rebuild? They suggest 25K miles. I'm at 30K now and the back is harsh. Any experience out there? Tks Link to comment
JerryMather
Right now. if they feel harsh. The recommended mileage is a ballpark figure only. It all depends on how you ride the bike and how much action the shock is taking while your riding. It's the oil that breaks down & goes bad &/or a loss of the Nitrogen Charge if your shocks use Nitrogen also, that changes the shock action, way before the hard parts breakdown, if at all. Example: Racers are recommended to rebuild their forks & shocks way sooner then a street bike only because of the stress they put them under, thus breaking down the oil inside & possibly the seals. If you ride hard in the twisters or ride two up most of the time, you'll wear out your shocks sooner than someone riding back and forth to work on the Hwy. Link to comment
BOOCH
You should contact Ted Porter in Scotts Valley. He installed my Wilbers and did a fabulous job. Steve Link to comment
