Tank bag options for '97 R1100RT

Am currently using a Held brand tank bag (taken off of my FJ1200). Not totally happy with it. Am looking at the SW Motech bags that lock to fuel cap attachment. What have others used and liked?

There are a lot of good bags, some low procedure ones that fade, zippers break.

Look at RKA bags. Several choices of size, options , made in Calif. If you call, one of the owners will actually answer the phone. You don't get an annoying phone tree.

Nice folks.

+1 -- I have one of their 13L Shiloh bags on my K16GTL. In addition to Richard and Kathy being good people, the bags are well made, and the version with electrical pass-through alongside the bag is, to me at least, a much cleaner and more convenient approach than using one of the Powerlet outside-inside SAE plugs that you cut through the bag (one slot and four screw holes) to install.

The RKA approach is a sleeve along the left side, with a hole into the bag interior:

The outside sleeve is open to the front or rear, and can be closed off:

Don't get me wrong, the Powerlet approach is good in some applications -- I have one in the BMW tank bag on my R12RT. However, the only reason I used the Powerlet penetration is because the BMW tank bag didn't have a pass through like the RKA bags, and I didn't want to remove a perfectly good BMW bag from its mount base to install another bag.

No affiliation; just a satisfied customer.

I am using a Big Mak bag. No longer in production. The mount keeps the bag off the bike and it is easy to fuel up.

They come up for sale from time to time here on the classifieds.

I've got a 96RT like your 97. What about a BMW tank bag ? Your bike has front mounts attached to the fuel tank. The extension ring makes the thing about 14" tall. The bmw bag just looks right to me. Course my bike came with the bmw bag last year when I bought it...
