metric vs. imp speedometer

I finally got around to replace my mph speedometer with the km/h speedometer. The replacement procedure was uneventful but I am having unusually high speed reading on the new speedo.

Haven't have a chance to compare the speed reading to the GPS speed reading, but is there more to exchanging the speedometer then just throwing in a new instrument??

Any thoughts?

If your speedometer is mechanically driven (cable coming from the front wheel) there's really not much to it than swapping.

Have you got an ex-police bike by chance? Always remember speedometers on PA bikes are much more accurate than those used on civilian ones.

I think you need to specify which bike you are working on. And probably the source for the new speedometer. New, used, different model?
