mitchntx
09 R1200RT 13,000 miles No indication on the rotors Piston moves freely Notice the inner pad (opposite side of the piston) has 1/2 the material the outer pad. I've only had the bike 4 months and put about 4K miles on it. Never been impressed with rear brake performance. Was doing the trans and final drive service. Removed caliper to lube the rear splines. Inspected brakes while there. I can't see any reason for the uneven wear. Everything seems move as it should. I've ordered new pads. Thoughts? Link to comment
lkraus
That is perfectly normal wear. When those new pads come in, you will see that the inner friction pad is 4.5mm thick, while the outer is 5.0mm thick. Minimum friction pad thickness for either is 1.0mm. When none of the three rings on the retaining pin are visible, the pads will be done. You still have many miles left on those pads. Link to comment
Lowndes
Make sure the slide pins are well lubed and free to let the caliper adjust to the rotor. Link to comment
