Same car underneath? Thought I read somewhere it used another manufactures drivetrain? May not have been Mazda…. :dontknow:

My understanding is yes, same drivetrain, same factory.

One other thing I thought of. The insurance on the Miatarati will be a lot cheaper than the Pcar.

Where I stole the picture from.  :spittake:

Really, a "Fix it again, Tony" motor in a bulletproof Mazda?

I'd rather have this:

Yeah let's ruin the 50/50 balance by stuffing an extra 400hp in a 2300lb car so you can do powerslides and start breaking axles/CV joints and other components not designed for it. Just go buy a couple nice C6's or four 986's for what that stupidity costs, besides new Miata's are just butt ugly : )

What a lot of people don't realize is the 911's closest competitors over the generations, the Corvette and M3 are tightened down to ride like racecars to get equivalent numbers whereas the 911 is much more comfortable and a far better all around/usable car.

Nah.  Magride changed that.

Haven't driven a newish Vette (C7, C8) and have little desire to, not a fan of immature styling. Did drive an M4 awhile back and it had a terribly harsh ride although with the Competition Pkg, the owner got rid of it after 6 months. The only other two high performance cars I've really enjoyed driving on the road besides a 911 were an '05 Ford GT and a BMW M1, both great cars and their values reflect it, $4-500k.

Which brings up something completely different....  The Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing: V6 with 472 hp, 6-speed manual, RWD, Magnetic Ride Control. Twice what @TEWKS wants to pay, but he says he's just talking.

Used 2022 Cadillac CT4 V Blackwing w/ Carbon Fiber 1 Package

No, I like that it’s finally mid engine, after 70 years, was on the fence with the styling when it came out but like it less and less the more I see them.

Ok, I recall when they first came out, you called it "immature" (whatever that means since it looks Euro'ish to me), but then with this Z06, you called it a "great" car.

But however you see it.........it's just another opinion:classic_biggrin:

I'd have to dig around, but don't recall if it was you or someone else that said a similar thing when the redesigned camaro came out,.....then as a few years past, there was a change in the opinion.

Well opinions can change I guess but I don't remember having one on the new Camaro. I do like nearly all of the newer retro designs from 60's including the Camaro except they're hard to see out of with the roof being so low but after decades of the huge greenhouse on a 911 almost everything else seems claustrophobic. I really like the 2nd gen new Beetle (except they put the motor in the wrong place) and 1st gen Mini and picked up a used Clubman last year, just a cheap little fun car that puts a smile on your face and sometimes other people's too : )

Still hoping this one comes up for sale again. He said he’d call if he changed his mind about keeping it.

More for conversation than an actual want.  Can these two statements be true at the same time?  featuring its original Gazelle Beige metallic paint (Code 406-9-3).  / It was fully restored. I have all the restoration process pictured so if you are interested text or email me.

Sounds fishy to me Pat, the wording sounds like a BaT description then he calls it a convertible a couple times, when it’s obviously a Targa. It’s a Euro version (grey market) or Canadian which means there’s no way to verify the mileage and was likely driven on salty roads in its early life. On the other hand might be worth a look being somewhat local, it’s priced way under the average market.

For some reason. I don't believe that would be true with your 86 944.. I'm not thinking that most people could drive that in good weather.

It's not hard to drive but it is fast and with around 650hp and top speed of nearly 200mph it requires your full attention, I haven't driven it in years and don't think I really want to anymore : )

Wish I'da took pictures.  Was at an auction a few years ago, beautiful early 90's F-250 super cab, 40-50k miles, truck went for $50k'ish,....original pricing of these trucks were like $20k

Yep, 90's Chevy and Ford Pickups are strong, especially if 3/4 ton and/or with 4wd, at least around here. People are finally figuring out less is more, they want simplicity over complexity.

Will be interesting to see what this one brings tomorrow afternoon, more miles but still pretty sweet.

Pops would be making his way back down just to sell this thing for a profit if he knew. (maybe he does) :spittake: His was red, but it was the same truck he drove when I became aware of the family vehicles. We use to sit up on the utility bed and drive out to the local landfill before (safely first) became a thing. Believe me, he never subscribed to that. :spittake:

His next truck was a 1977 F-250. It was pretty close to this one except white in the mid section. I was his copilot in the blizzard of 78 in this thing, it kicked ass plowing snow, never got stuck once that I can recall.

Yup, I’m just asking for a door knocking tonight!  :classic_laugh:

And bringing it back to the original topic starter. :read: This was his last truck before going the SUV route!  Again different color, his was grey with silver in the middle. I actually worked the deal for this truck, he said I need a new truck and he didn’t feel like negotiating. IIRC I got the price down to $14K  from somewhere around sixteen K.

edit fun fact.

See the KitchenAid Dishwasher? For some weird reason when I finally built my house (ok brother did) (I lugged lumber) I had to have a KitchenAid dishwasher like that one. :dontknow: They still made them, or very similar to that one. It crapped out after about ten years though. Got a new KitchenAid and it’s still going strong. Till tomorrow morning. :dopeslap:

I'm a Chevy/Ford man : ) my more current trucks have been Chevys but remember a couple Fords fondly. Mainly a black/red '65 F100 short bed I bought in the early 70's for $500., six cylinder and 3 on the tree it was just cool even then and a hoot to drive. Next was a '70 long bed 302, yellow and white I drove to Colorado one winter, on the way back we were stopped by CHP at Vail Pass checking for chains, it had snow tires on the rear told him it had positraction, he let us go, no problem. My '74 18' Donzi had a 302 with straight exhausts thru the transom, it ran and sounded great. Almost forgot, had a Caliente and Cyclone as a teenager, one had a 289 the other a 390, both were really good cars.

Imagine this truck w/o the camper (it was just temporary as you can tell by the hokie tie-downs), I still have it, '98 2500 w/4wd, 454 w/115k mi, love this truck and it's towed a 30' Airstream to Colorado and back a couple times and done a few semi-rocky passes. It's inop at the moment though, some POS stole it out of storage and ruined the trans in the woods running from the cops, they caught him and I got it back eventually, just haven't gotten around to it yet but this thread is helping motivate me. The dash is cracked pretty good too where they bashed his head on it a few times it appears : )

I've had this 1999 Chevy Suburban 2500 4x4 since around 2005 and only has around 195K on the clock.  Did have the transmission rebuild and upgraded a while back.  Also replacing the shocks about a year ago
